Major opposition parties yesterday criticized top leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for repeatedly endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office.
Daily Trust reports that APC leaders have recently seized every opportunity to applaud the Tinubu administration and declare their support for his re-election bid in 2027.
Opposition parties expressed outrage over the latest endorsement, which took place over the weekend in Kaduna. Saying they condemned the development as premature and politically motivated.
The APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, led the meeting. Governors from the North West zone—Uba Sani of Kaduna State, Nasir Idris of Kebbi, and Umar Namadi of Jigawa also attended.
Other key figures present included the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas; Deputy Senate President, Barau I Jibrin; federal ministers from the region; APC state chapter chairmen; state and federal lawmakers; and heads of federal agencies.
