The North-East Youth Renaissance Group, NYRG, on Wednesday said with more determination and support of the people, troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria will continue to decimate terrorists attacking communities in the region and entire country.
The Group said the region is facing an unenviable situation with sad tales, saying with the peoples support, the situation can be turned around by troops.
NYRG stated this in reaction to failed attack on New Marte and the Forward Operating Base at Kumshe in Borno State by fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP.
The failed tuesday night attack left ISWAP fighters with at least 15 dead.
Similarly, troops also repelled a daring attempt by terrorists to attack the Forward Operating Base at Kumshe.
NYRG Secretary, Bello Alhaji in a press release commended the collaborative effort of the different arms of the Armed Forces.
He said in the press release that the AFN under the Chief of Defence, Gen. Chris Musa has shown capacity to not only defend the country, but take the battle to terrorists.
“NYRG commends what has happened in Marte and Kumshe. It confirms our trust in the ability of the Armed Forces of Nigeria under the Chief of Defence, Gen. Chris Musa to defend our country.
“The renewed jointness and team spirit in the fight against terrorism will ultimately bring lasting peace to enable socio-economic activities thrive in the North East region.
“Our role as residents of the North-East is to continue to pray for and support our troops as they seek to turn around the unenviable situation and sad tales our region finds itself now,” NYRG added.
