Ondo Poll: Ayedatiwa Receives APC’s Certificate of Return

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially presented the certificate of return to Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa, following his victory in the party’s primaries held on April 20. The ceremony, which took place at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, saw the APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, personally handing over the certificate.

In his address, Ganduje expressed confidence in the APC’s prospects for a resounding victory in the upcoming November 16 Ondo State governorship election. Governor Ayedatiwa, in his response, extended his gratitude to all the aspirants who contested in the primaries, praising them for their sportsmanship.

Ayedatiwa also took the opportunity to express his appreciation to key figures within the APC, including President Bola Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, and the party’s leadership, for their unwavering commitment to maintaining unity within the party.

He commended the transparency and fairness of the primary election process, acknowledging the efforts of the party’s leadership in ensuring a level playing field for all aspirants. Despite initial complaints and petitions from some contestants, Ayedatiwa affirmed that all aspirants are now united behind his candidacy.

Accepting the party’s flag as its flag bearer for the forthcoming Ondo State governorship election, Ayedatiwa pledged to lead an inclusive government if elected as the state’s next governor. He expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received from party members and the entire Ondo State community during his campaign tour.

Addressing the opposition parties in the state, Ayedatiwa affirmed the APC’s dominance and popularity among the people of Ondo State. He asserted that the APC remains the preferred party and enjoys widespread support across the state.

During the primaries, Ayedatiwa secured a total of 48,569 votes, emerging as the clear winner over his closest rival, Mayowa Akinfolarin, who garnered 15,343 votes. Olusola Oke came in third with 14,865 votes, solidifying Ayedatiwa’s position as the APC’s candidate for the upcoming gubernatorial election.
