Collaborative Efforts to Eradicate Terrorism and Kidnapping Continue
In a decisive move against escalating criminal activities in Kaduna State, the air component of Operation WHIRL PUNCH executed targeted air strikes on Thursday, 18 January 2024, successfully neutralizing Janari, a notorious terrorist and kidnap kingpin, along with several members of his syndicate. The relentless attacks orchestrated by Janari and his cohorts have been linked to numerous incidents of violence and abductions, particularly along the Abuja-Kaduna highway.
According to Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabket The operation was set into motion after intelligence reports pinpointed Janari and his gang near Gadar Katako in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Further investigation revealed that the group was amassing for a potential assault or kidnapping spree, prompting the urgent need to eliminate the imminent threat. The subsequent air strikes proved to be effective, ensuring the eradication of Janari and several other terrorists/kidnappers.
Additionally, on 20 January 2024, similar air strikes were conducted on confirmed terrorists and kidnappers’ hideouts near Chukuba in Niger State, yielding varying degrees of success. Post-strike feedback validated the accuracy of the targets hit and confirmed the destruction of their mobility.
The collaborative efforts between the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and other security agencies remain steadfast, with ongoing operations planned across locations suspected of harboring terrorists and kidnappers. The commitment to maintaining security and safeguarding civilians from such threats remains a top priority for the authorities
