PDP Alleges Aiyedatiwa Abandoned Akeredolu’s Projects, APC Fires Back

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has accused Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of abandoning all unfinished projects initiated by his predecessor, the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

In a statement released on Sunday, PDP’s Director of Media and Publicity, Mr. Leye Igbabo, claimed that Governor Aiyedatiwa deliberately ignored these projects to erase Akeredolu’s legacy.

The PDP alleged that Governor Aiyedatiwa aimed to sabotage the late governor’s achievements due to political grievances. They accused him of using his executive authority to halt projects that did not align with his personal interests and suggested he had told beneficiaries of those projects to fund their completion themselves. The opposition party claimed that his reluctance to continue these projects, despite having access to substantial state resources, raised serious concerns about his intentions.

In response, the All Progressives Congress (APC) rejected the allegations. Mr. Steve Otaloro, the APC’s Director of Media and Publicity, countered in a statement that Governor Aiyedatiwa remained committed to completing all projects initiated under Akeredolu’s administration. Otaloro emphasized that Aiyedatiwa, who served as deputy governor during Akeredolu’s tenure, regarded the past administration as part of his own legacy and had no reason to undermine it.

He cited specific projects such as the Oda Road expansion in Akure as examples of ongoing work inherited from the former governor. Otaloro criticized the PDP for spreading false claims and accused the party of resorting to misinformation to stay politically relevant after failing to overturn Aiyedatiwa’s election victory in November 2024.

The APC urged the PDP to focus on resolving its internal issues, including recent defections, instead of misleading the public with unfounded accusations.
