The acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has initiated the distribution of cheques to provide insurance benefits to the next-of-kin of officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice and those who have endured permanent disabilities while carrying out their lawful duties.
The total amount of cheques presented to sixty-eight (68) families of deceased officers and those who have been injured or disabled in the line of duty, covered by the Group Life Assurance 2022/2023 Policy Year, reaches a sum of N535,618,788.44 (Five Hundred and Thirty-Five Million, Six Hundred and Eighteen Thousand, Seven Hundred and Eighty-Eight Naira Forty-Four Kobo).

The IGP emphasized that the Nigeria Police Force, under his leadership, firmly believes in the value of human life and prioritizes the well-being of its officers and personnel.
He underscored his commitment to promptly fulfilling the obligation of providing insurance and other benefits to all police personnel who have made immense sacrifices for our beloved country. Comprehensive welfare support will be provided to create an environment where every officer feels esteemed, safeguarded, and motivated to give their utmost in service to our nation.
Furthermore, the IGP has received a contribution of N70,000,000.00 (Seventy Million Naira) from Anchor Insurance Company Limited, which will aid in the reconstruction of the extensively damaged Kano State Command Headquarters following a devastating fire incident on January 14, 2023.
The IGP expressed gratitude for the significant financial support, which will help restore the command’s infrastructure, enhance its operational capabilities, and ensure efficient and effective policing services for the residents of Kano State.

Acknowledging the remarkable resilience and unwavering dedication of the men and women who have served or continue to serve on the front lines, the Inspector-General of Police extended his deepest appreciation to the courageous officers of the Nigeria Police Force for their commendable commitment, sacrifice, and unwavering loyalty to upholding the values of justice and security.
He reiterated that the loss and injuries suffered by these officers create an irreplaceable void, but their legacies will forever endure in the hearts of those they have touched.
