President Tinubu Vows Greater Progress After APC Endorsement for 2027 Election

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, buoyed by his endorsement as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2027 presidential election, pledged to intensify efforts for Nigeria’s advancement. The endorsement came from key party bodies, including the APC Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), the National Working Committee (NWC), and lawmakers from the party in the National Assembly, during the APC National Policy Summit titled “Renewed Hope Agenda: The Journey So Far.”

Held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, the summit brought together prominent APC leaders to assess the administration’s achievements and outline its ongoing policy goals. In his address, Tinubu expressed deep appreciation for the support and reiterated his dedication to steering Nigeria toward a brighter, more prosperous era. He asserted that the economic reforms implemented by his government are already showing positive outcomes.

Drawing on the party’s backing, Tinubu motivated supporters, stating, “With your resolve, your endurance, and your faith in democracy, this endorsement gives us the momentum to move forward. I know the path; we will guide you to that Promised Land.” He reflected on the past two years since taking office, highlighting the economic hurdles inherited from previous administrations and the decisive actions taken to foster stability.

Tinubu specifically pointed to measures such as the elimination of the petrol subsidy and the consolidation of foreign exchange systems, describing them as essential, albeit challenging, steps for long-term gain. Defending these decisions, he remarked, “We couldn’t continue squandering the future of our children and generations yet unborn. It’s like committing a grave wrong after the fact.” While acknowledging that these reforms have faced criticism from some quarters, he emphasized their emerging benefits, including a rise in foreign direct investment and improved macroeconomic steadiness.

Recognizing the hardships endured by everyday Nigerians due to these policies, Tinubu called for continued patience and resilience. “We faced significant obstacles when we took office in May 2023, but through tough, long-awaited reforms, we are making headway,” he said, assuring citizens that the current sacrifices would pave the way for sustained economic growth and a more secure future.
