Primate Elijah Ayodele Denies Claiming President Tinubu Will Lose 2027 Election, Calls Reports ‘Misinformation’

The leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has firmly denied reports that he prophesied President Bola Tinubu would not secure a second term in the 2027 presidential election.

Describing the circulating claims as fabrications by “mischief makers and political actors,” Ayodele accused critics of twisting his words for personal gain.

In a statement released through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, the prominent prophet clarified that his recent comments were taken out of context. The controversy stems from social media posts on X (formerly Twitter), which quoted a statement attributed to him: “If Peter Obi becomes president, war and tragedy will befall Nigeria. Tinubu is the best candidate, but he may not win.” Ayodele categorically rejected these quotes, labeling them as “political propaganda” designed to sow discord.

Ayodele pointed to a recent interview where he expressed support for Tinubu, stating that the president is “the only candidate to vote for if Peter Obi and Abubakar Atiku become the opposition candidates.”

He further emphasized that neither Obi nor Atiku would govern Nigeria more effectively than Tinubu. “I never said Tinubu will not win,” Ayodele asserted in the statement. “My words were warnings to him ahead of 2027, not a declaration of defeat.”

The cleric warned against the deliberate misinterpretation of his prophecies, which he claims are often manipulated for selfish interests. In his remarks, Ayodele urged the public to verify information before spreading it, saying, “It’s a common fact that my prophecies get twisted for selfish interest among political actors.

I just want to advise everyone not to say what I didn’t say… When you don’t understand my words, seek clarification and don’t face the anger of God.”

Addressing specific allegations, Ayodele denied ever predicting that Nigeria would descend into war or tragedy if Peter Obi were to become president. “Everything I see on Twitter about Tinubu isn’t true,” he explained. “I only warned Tinubu about three people that can affect his second term ambition and three things he needs to do. I know some of you might have been paid by your paymasters, but you shouldn’t misquote my statements.”

The statement from Oluwatosin reinforced Ayodele’s position, describing the false reports as a tactic employed by unnamed politicians to undermine the prophet’s credibility.

Ayodele, known for his bold prophecies on Nigerian politics and global events, has previously made headlines with predictions about elections and leadership. However, he stressed that his role is to offer guidance rather than fuel division.

Nigerians have been urged to disregard the disputed reports, with Ayodele emphasizing the importance of accuracy in public discourse. “I will not change what I said, but I demand that my words be represented truthfully,” he added.

This incident highlights the growing scrutiny of religious leaders’ involvement in politics, especially in a country like Nigeria where prophetic statements often influence public opinion.

As the 2027 election cycle approaches, such controversies could intensify, with stakeholders calling for greater responsibility in how statements are reported and shared online.

Ayodele’s denial comes amid a broader conversation about misinformation on social media platforms, where unverified claims can quickly gain traction.

The INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church has not issued further comments at this time, but the prophet’s team indicated that legal action might be considered against those responsible for the alleged distortions.
