The Rivers State House of Assembly has issued a notice of misconduct against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu.
The lawmakers, in the notice dated March 16, stated that their action was in accordance with the Nigerian Constitution.
A portion of the notice reads:
“In compliance with Section 188 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) and other relevant laws, we, the undersigned members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, hereby forward to you a Notice of Gross Misconduct by the Deputy Governor of Rivers State in the performance of her official duties.”
The move by the state assembly signals a deepening political crisis in Rivers State, raising concerns about potential tensions within the state’s leadership.
