Rivers Political Crisis: Group Hails Tinubu’s “Timely and Decisive” Intervention
Abuja, Nigeria – The Enforcers of Good Governance (EGG), a prominent socio-political pressure group based in Rivers State, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for his recent intervention in the prolonged political upheaval that gripped the state, describing his action as instrumental in restoring peace and stability.
In a statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja, Dr. Kingsley Ogu, the convener of EGG, asserted that President Tinubu’s intervention was “timely and decisive,” effectively ushering in “a new dawn of peace and progress for Rivers State.”
“The intervention by President Tinubu has not only brought an end to the crisis but also restored stability and hope for inclusive governance,” Dr. Ogu stated, highlighting the profound impact of the President’s leadership.
Beyond the President, EGG also extended commendation to other key figures involved in the resolution. Dr. Ogu praised Mr. Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), for playing a “fatherly role” in ensuring a peaceful resolution to the impasse.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara was also recognized by the group for his “courage, resilience, and commitment to placing the interests of the people of Rivers above all else.” Furthermore, EGG acknowledged the Speaker of the State House of Assembly and other lawmakers for their willingness to “embrace peace and support the return to normalcy.”
With the political tensions now reportedly subsiding, Dr. Ogu expressed optimism for the state’s future. “With the crisis now over, Rivers State is poised for development, unity, and inclusive governance,” he stated.
EGG consequently urged all citizens and stakeholders within Rivers State to continue to uphold peace, dialogue, and collective responsibility, ensuring the sustained interest and advancement of the state.
