During the unveiling of the 10.98km Aleto-Ogale-Ebubu-Eteo Road in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, Governor Siminalayi Fubara disclosed that many projects executed during his predecessor Nyesom Wike’s administration were left unpaid for, accumulating debts running into millions and billions.
Governor Fubara highlighted that contractors who handled projects for Wike’s administration are now returning for outstanding payments. He emphasized the completion of the Aleto-Ogale-Ebubu-Eteo Road, clarifying that the contract was awarded during his administration, with the full payment made to the contractor.
Addressing the issue of unpaid project debts, Fubara expressed his administration’s commitment to transparency, stating his intention to provide a detailed ‘white paper’ documenting project funding.
Furthermore, Fubara dismissed claims of conflicts with the Federal Government, asserting that his administration has received support. He attributed challenges to internal interests, vowing to address them decisively.
The presence of Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, at the commissioning ceremony was justified by Fubara, who praised Otti as a symbol of true leadership. Otti, in turn, commended Fubara’s governance style and leadership, affirming his belief in Fubara’s ability to navigate political instability in Rivers State.
The collaboration between the two governors underscores a commitment to progressive governance and service to the people, as both leaders emphasize the importance of prioritizing public welfare over personal interests.
