The House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts has given the heads of six federal government agencies and a higher educational institution a final ultimatum to appear before the panel within seventy-two hours to address the audit queries amounting to over N300 billion, as presented by the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation.

The Committee emphasized that this latest summons should be regarded as the final warning, and if the invited heads of the agencies fail to comply, the committee will have no choice but to issue arrest warrants against them.

During the resumed hearing of the committee, Chairman Hon. Bamidele Salam issued the stern warning due to the agencies’ non-compliance with previous invitations.

The Committee’s chairman explained that the purpose of summoning the heads of these agencies was to have them respond to the audit queries raised in the report from the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation.

The six federal government agencies and the higher educational institution in question are the Rural Electrification Agency, Nigeria Upstream Regulatory Authority, Nigeria Satellite Communications Ltd (NIGCOMSAT), Nigeria Export Promotion Council, Export Processing Zone Authority, and the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun.
