Speed Darlington Cries Out: ‘I Should Have Used Juju!’ After Sh*cking Loss To Portable

Controversial singer and internet sensation Darlington Okoye, widely known as Speed Darlington, has voiced his regret for not using “juju” (charms) in his recent celebrity boxing match against street-hop star Habeeb Okikiola, popularly called Portable.

The much-anticipated bout, tagged “Chaos In The Ring,” took place on Saturday, April 19, at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Lagos, and was organized by Game Rush in collaboration with Balmoral Promotions.

The event was officially sanctioned by the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control.

During the fight, Portable secured a swift victory, knocking out Speed Darlington in just two rounds via a technical knockout, after Speed reportedly suffered a dislocated shoulder and could not continue.

Celebrating his triumph, Portable took to Instagram, posting celebratory messages such as, “Champion forever. I believe in (those) who believe in me. Na God dey run am. Orilomo.” He later added, “Joy full my body, money don land.”

In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) following the match, Speed Darlington opened up about his injury and hinted that mystical forces might have influenced the outcome.

Speaking in Pidgin English, he said, “I no know wetin happen whether na juju wey Portable carry come, I never tire, my shoulder just dislocated.”

He further explained, “I think it happened because I was swinging too wide. The ambulance on standby helped reset my shoulder, but I was advised not to continue, as it could lead to surgery.

What pains me the most is the money given to Portable—he’ll just go and lavish it. I should’ve used my own juju.”

The event was one of the night’s main attractions, featuring a lineup of electrifying matches, including Idowu Rasheed successfully defending his UBO All African Light-Heavyweight title, along with other notable male and female boxing bouts.
