The concerted efforts of both the air and ground components of Operation Hadin Kai in purging the Northeast region of Nigeria from terrorist remnants have yielded a series of commendable successes. One such significant triumph unfolded on January 5, 2024, at Parisu, near the Sambisa Forest, as part of Operation Hadin Kai’s ongoing campaign to neutralize terrorists. According the Air Force Spokesman Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the operation was prompted by intelligence reports revealing suspicious movements of items suspected to be weapons and ammunition by terrorists in the area.
Parisu, once a notorious terrorist enclave, had been successfully cleared by own troops in previous operations. However, recent intelligence indicating the convergence of terrorists raised concerns regarding their intentions and plans. Consequently, a directive was issued to strike the location. The aftermath of the strikes resulted in a massive ball of flames emanating from two adjacent spots within the vicinity. Surviving terrorists were observed fleeing for safety, with feedback confirming the neutralization of 12 terrorists and the destruction of their logistics. This successful operation significantly degraded their capability to launch attacks on both soft targets and Nigerian troops.
In a parallel operation on January 6, 2024, precision strikes were carried out approximately 1.5 kilometers southwest of Tumbun Agiri within the Tumbuns in the Lake Chad region. Continuous intelligence gathering had revealed the ongoing assembly of armed terrorists using pickup vehicles and motorcycles in the area, prompting the decision to launch targeted strikes. The outcome included the destruction of vehicles, motorcycles, and the elimination of several terrorists.
Preceding these operations, on January 2, 2024, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai executed successful strikes during an air reconnaissance mission at Tumbun Alura. The mission targeted three canoes observed loaded with suspected Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), resulting in a substantial explosion. Similar precision strikes were also conducted at Tumbun Buwari and Sabon Tumbun, focusing on terrorist structures within the Lake Chad region. These successful operations underscore the commitment and effectiveness of Operation Hadin Kai in eradicating terrorist threats and safeguarding the security of the region.
