Tinubu Urges Muslims: Adhere to Qur’an for Peaceful, Prosperous Nigeria
Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on the Nigerian Muslim Ummah to strictly adhere to the teachings and values of the Holy Qur’an as a fundamental pathway to achieving national greatness, fulfilling destiny, and fostering a prosperous society.
Speaking through his Senior Special Assistant on Political and Other Matters, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of the Qur’an beyond mere recitation. “This Qur’anic Recitation Competition is more than just a contest of vocal prowess, but is a spiritual journey, a testament to dedication, discipline and devotion,” he stated.
The President made this charge during the grand finale of the President Tinubu’s Mother Qur’an Recitation Competition, organized by Senator Bashir Lado. He described the Holy Book as the divine word of Allah, serving as a complete guide for humanity, a source of light, wisdom, and solace.
“The need for strictly adhering to its teaching is been required for all the Muslims Ummah to change the narrative,” Tinubu conveyed through his representative. He stressed that such adherence would undoubtedly lead to “a peaceful coexistence where a prosperous society devoid of hatred and bloodshed will be achieved.”
Urging commitment to Islamic principles, President Tinubu added, “As we witness this beautiful Recitation today, let us all be reminded of the Quranic message of peace, unity, justice and compassion. Let us strive to continue by its teachings, to embody its principles in our daily lives.”
Earlier at the event, the organizer, Senator Bashir Lado, highlighted the personal significance of the competition, noting it was a mission that spoke to the values embodied by the President, including respect for legacy, fidelity to memory, and the enduring power of maternal love.
Senator Lado delivered emotional remarks about the irreplaceable void left by a mother’s passing, stating, “When a man loses a father, he loses an anchor, but when a man loses a mother he loses the sky, the shade of unconditional love, the whisper of midnight prayers, the lap that comforted even the strongest man — all gone, save in memory.”
He acknowledged that Hajiya Abibatu Mogaji, President Tinubu’s late mother, left behind a rich legacy of values and spirit that are now evident in her son, describing the President as “a builder, a protector and a custodian of hopes in an era when many nations tremble in the wind.”
Senator Lado also offered prayers for the late mother of former President Buhari, Hajiya Zulaihat Buhari, commending her for raising “a man of discipline and honour” in the former president.
