On the 13th of April 2023, the highly trained and skilled troops of Operation WHIRL PUNCH were deployed to conduct a search operation at POLEWIRE along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road in Kaduna State.

This operation was based on credible intelligence that suggested the presence of illegal arms and ammunition in the area.

Major General Musa Danmadami, the Director Defence Media Operations, said that during the search, troops came across a black Toyota Corolla and decided to conduct a thorough search of the vehicle. Their efforts were rewarded as they discovered a cache of arms and ammunition hidden in different compartments of the car. In addition, they were able to apprehend one suspect, who happened to be the driver of the vehicle.

The recovered items included a staggering one thousand seventy-nine (1,079) rounds of 7.62mm special, eight hundred and eighty-six (886) rounds of 7.62mm NATO (belted), one hundred and thirty-nine (139) rounds of 7.62mm special (tracer), and 5 AK 47 empty magazines.
