Two Reps Leave PDP, LP to Join APC

Two members of the House of Representatives, Hon. Peter Akpanke and Hon. Paul Nnamchi, officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) on Tuesday to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

During plenary, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas read their defection letters as the lawmakers declared their move to the APC. Akpanke, who represents the Obanliku/Obudu/Bekwara Federal Constituency in Cross River State, was elected under the PDP, while Nnamchi, representing Enugu East/Isi Uzo Federal Constituency in Enugu State, won his seat on the LP platform.

Both lawmakers cited internal conflicts in their former parties and a shared interest in supporting the APC-led Federal Government’s policies as reasons for their defection.

APC members in the chamber applauded their decision, and Speaker Abbas congratulated the two lawmakers on their new political alignment.
